16-year-old boy kidnaps, rapes 2-year-old girl in Lagos


A 16-year-old teenage boy, identified as Azeez Ganiyu has been arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate court in Apapa Lagos for raping a two-year-old girl.According to reports, Ganiyu abducted the girl from her parents residence on Giwa Street, Ijora Badia, when she came out to play with other children and took her to an uncompleted building in the area.It was learnt that the mother and other neighbors, after minutes of searching for her heard her crying. They traced her voice to an uncompleted building where they found Ganiyu committing the crime.After it was medically confirmed that Ganiyu had raped the two
year old, the case was reported to the police who arrested and arraigned Ganiyu before the Apapa Magistrate Court on a one count charge of rape.

 The charge read: “That you, Azeez Abdulganiyu (16), on April 16, 2015, at about 10am on Giwa Street, Ijora Badia, Lagos in the Apapa Magisterial District, did unlawfully have carnal knowledge of a two-year-old girl.”The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Olusoji Ojaokomo, told the court that the offence contravened provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.Ganiyu pleaded not guilty to the crime and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.The Magistrate ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payment to the court and adjourned the case till May 5, 2015
