Police rescue 62-year-old businesswoman from kidnappers den in Lagos



The Police in Lagos State has rescued a 62-year-old business woman, Mrs Kudirat Adeboye.Adeboye was rescued by agents of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in a bush around Epe.She was kidnapped last Wednesday at Elemoro in Ibeju-lekki area of Lagos State around 7pm while she had gone to inspect her site where the construction of a filling station was ongoing.The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N50m and threatened to kill her if their demand was not met.When the Police was notified of the abduction,the State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, reportedly directed the Commander, SARS,
Abba Kyari, to follow the kidnappers and ensure Mrs Adeboye was rescued.

The Police lured the kidnappers to a place around Lekki to collect their ransom, when a member of the gang came out to pick the ransom, he was surrounded by SARS operatives. On sighting the policemen, he was said to have opened fire on sighting the policemen, but was overpowered.Vanguard reports that Police sources hinted that the suspect took the operatives to a bush around Epe, where the 62-year-old v0ictim was held hostage and subsequently rescued.The state PPRO, Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed the kidnap and rescue of Mrs Adeboye also confirmed the death of the kidnapper who died in a cross fire with the police.He said one double-barrelled pistol, two expended and six cartridges were recovered from the suspect. He added that the Police are still on the trail of other fleeing members of the gang.
