The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, said 29 vessels were either discharging or waiting to discharge PMS at various jetties and depots nationwide and offshore.This is contained in a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the PPPRA, Mr Farouk Ahmed, in Abuja on Tursday.It said 13 vessels were discharging petrol at Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Calabar, Okrika and Oghara jetties and depots while 16 more vessels were also waiting to discharge offshore Lagos.In the statement, the PPPRA boss assured Nigerians of steady and adequate supply of petroleum products across the country.
The statement said the agency’s national petroleum products stocks data indicate that the country has 46-day national products sufficiency.
It stated that this comprised both land-based stock of over 28-day sufficiency and marine stock of about 18-day sufficiency.It warned that the agency will not hesitate to sanction any marketer or depot owner caught hoarding petroleum products.It said that trucking of product had been ongoing at coastal depots, following appeals made to the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO).According to NAN, the statement pointed out that security agencies have also assured NARTO of the safety and security of their trucks and drivers.While appealing to Nigerians not to engage in panic-buying, it warned against hoarding.
